What makes your dad the best? Well, he’s your dad, and that all by itself is pretty special. The day celebrates father figures, among them biological fathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. It is a time set aside to value a father’s role in one’s life and to reflect upon paternal bonding. Although the holiday honours all father figures, the day is known by its singular possessive, that is, Father’s Day. There are no official ways to celebrate Father’s Day, but different families celebrate it in different ways. You probably know at least a few you’d like to recognise with a card and some heartfelt words on that special day. These are the men we look up to who set solid examples for us and guide us throughout our lives.
In recognition of the particular time, we wanted to do our part to help those in our lives recognise the great dads in their lives. Since Father’s Day is just around the corner, we pay tribute to the dads in our lives with a list of our favourite types of fathers, as well as ideal Father’s Day gifts for each of them.
This dad is attached to his work phone; his face buried in emails. He won’t look up to say hello unless he detects a networking opportunity, almost job-related. He may not be the best expert to talk to about work/life balance, but he knows how to advance a career while still being a dad.
The Techy and Trendy
This dad has a great sense of style and can hold a conversation with youths on the latest trends, be it cars, gadgets, celebrities or viral topics.
The Master Chef
This dad is the one who dishes out fantastic food for the family. Many modern dads are whipping up a storm in the kitchen; sometimes even putting the ladies to shame!
This dad adopts a Do-It-Yourself approach and able to fix everything! This Daddy Fix-It knows how to solve any problem with a wrench or a hammer. He can build almost anything!
The Active and Sporty
This dad loves sport, be it basketball, tennis, or anything that keeps him active and fit. He even dressed in his favourite Football team shirt or basketball sneakers while jogging around the premises.
The Cave Man
This dad loves to be at home. You barely see them outside the house. He is usually at a specially equipped garage, spare bedroom, media room, basement, or treehouse to relax, to be alone, to indulge in hobbies or to hang out with male friends.
This dad is not the usual “outsider” but rather the one who loves to be outside; those who love nature, travelling, camping and other activities related to the outside world.
Regardless of what type of father you have, remember that he may seem remote but likely is more close to you than you realize. Fathers don’t always enjoy the glow of intimacy and admiration we give our mothers. They have the cultural image of a breadwinner, disciplinarian, authority figure. He may be the definition of “tough love,” but it is love.
We only look up to our fathers for so long. At some point, we begin to see things a little differently. But that’s not when we stop looking up to them. It’s at that point, we turn and look forward together.
We, from LatestBuy, are here to greet a Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers and father-figures who have continuously been there, taking on roles for their family and children. Thank you for being you!
