Previously, the only way to open a coconut was to either find a friendly islander with a machete (much better than finding an unfriendly islander with a machete) , hack at it hopelessly with a kitchen knife or resort to a rather unhygienic power tool and lose half the contents in the process! NOW, you can simply purchase the unique Avantai CocoCut Coconut Opener!
Now that coconuts are regularly for sale in supermarkets around Australia, it makes sense to invest in a tool that can open coconuts safely.
You simply place the base of the CocoCut onto the coconut (try and say that too quickly!), ensure the base is safely in place and insert the blade, grip the handle and twist the coconut back and forth so it does all the work. In seconds, you’ve got fresh cool coconut water to enjoy.
Like a scene from Gilligans Island, you can create those kooky coconut cocktails – all you need is a straw, some little umbrellas and someone you can call ‘little buddy’.
Buy the CocoCut Coconut Opener – and take it with you on holidays, you don’t want to get stuck on a desert island without one!

Doesn’t really work. Only works if all coconuts come as shown in the photo above — without the green husk. Unfortunately, coconuts come in all shapes and sizes and to “saw” through the husk, it takes a great deal of effort. Even for me, a man, the twisting just requires too much effort. Furthermore, the saw tooth is not possible to cut through the coconut and create a hole as shown. I would really like to see it work on real coconuts!
