 If you are concerned about the integrity of the molecule design (naturally, it was our first question), note that in chemical line-angle diagrams (as shown on the mug), Carbon and Hydrogen are usually not explicitly shown. It is assumed that Carbon is at every junction of lines and also that the correct number of Hydrogen atoms required to give each Carbon a total of four bonds exists. This representation of the caffeine molecule is therefore based on the molecular-diagram which is widely used and recognized throughout the scientific community.
Good to know – especially if you're approached by a java-loving geek who's just downed a double shot and he's looking for a theory to disprove.
